Ane Marcelino
I studied photography, fine arts and graphic design. From Cacapava, Sao Paulo, Connecticut and New York, I feel I have lived multiple lives. I worked as a photographer with weddings, studio and brand product. I also worked in museums, talking about art works and finding a common beauty and understanding in what we see. Only, after I did a doula workshop as a part of a personal essay in attempt to convey the importance of an image can have as recognition of a self during and after labor I realize the reverberation a birth experience can have in someone’s life.
On March 11th, 2018, on my birthday, I supported and photographed my first birth. Since then I’ve been working and growing as a doula. I balanced my love and experience of photography with my doula work bringing both together as a birth photographer. Every client is different and I am meticulous about capturing each moment respecting who they are.
In addition, over the years I understood the importance of birth education as additional support to empower my clients and anyone going thru the process of giving birth. I become a certified childbirth educator to further support my clients during pregnancy.
I approach photography as an art, treating every moment like pieces to create evidences of history. A visual memory that can pulse a moment back to life. I feel honored to have captured different approaches of photography as weddings, families portraits and studio. I continue with my knowledge as a photographer now focusing in maternity, families and birth photography.
